Pep Guardiola hinted at leaving Manchester City after winning an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title on Sunday.
Speaking after the 3-1 win over West Ham, Guardiola said that he is closer to leaving City than staying. However, he clarified that he won’t exit the club he has managed since 2016 immediately.
"The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying," the Spaniard told Sky News.
"We have talked with the club - my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But eight or nine years - we will see."
At a news conference, Guardiola admitted that he was tired after leading the side to their sixth title in seven years but reassured the fans that he will stay at City at least till the end of next season.
“In terms of numbers, nobody has been better than us. The records, the goals, the points, the four in a row,” the Man City boss declared.
“I said before, if you ask if you win six of the next seven Premier Leagues, I would say you are crazy. It is impossible.
“We have done something unbelievable.
“In this country with the amount of football, quality of managers and teams, the team surprised me. The organisation surprised me.
“Before was Liverpool to push us to our limits and now has been Arsenal. I want to congratulate them for an incredible season.
“They push us to our best.
“We competed incredibly well again and for little margin we won it. I am incredibly pleased.”
City will now shift their focus to the final week of the season ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United. It’s a rematch of last season’s first-ever all Manchester cup final where City bagged a 2-1 victory.
